Hi Friends,
I’m taking a little time this week, while the office is closed, to work on my book so I’m leaving you here with some other things to read. Enjoy!
HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY to Fruit Trees for Every Garden by Orin Martin with Manjula Martin, featuring a foreword by Alice Waters, and original etchings by Stephanie Martin! I’m so proud of the hard work Orin and Manjula did to create this comprehensive look at the art and beauty of growing trees that bear fruit. This is not a musty old gardening book. It’s full of insight and humor and poetry. It’s remarkable. Order it now and I bet you’ll have a head start on your holiday shopping.
I sent this article to a client because I found it inspiring. You can be a best selling author and your editor can still (rightfully, kindly, productively) tear apart your book! You can rebuild it! Everyone has to edit! The Book He Wasn’t Supposed to Write
Always read Amanda Mull on everything, but her recent article I Gooped Myself is a precise dissection of when self-care just means buying things and why that’s really not great.
CONGRATULATIONS to HUGO AWARD WINNER ALIX HARROW! Her story A Witch’s Guide to Escape: A Practical Compendium of Portal Fantasies, first published in Apex Magazine, won this year’s Hugo Award for Best Short Story. She was also nominated for a Nebula and a Locus Award for this story, and it was the 2018 Apex Magazine Best Short Story of the Year. Basically, your life is not complete without reading it. (There are witch librarians in it!!!!!) And you can read her novel THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY in two weeks. (!!!!!!!!!!!)
See you in September, friends!!
XOXOXOX,Kate
