Hello!
YES I KNOW! This is actually a Fifty Queries Club post! It’s been so long since I’ve done one, (SORRY!) I’ll go ahead and explain them again. I started a thing where paid subscribers could fill out a form and I would read their query and give them feedback, by way of newsletter posts, but ONLY if you’d submitted your work to at least 50 agents. And it was great! And then…well…life got in the way. I underestimated how time consuming it is to write these posts and also how much I actually had to say about some entries. Sometimes there’s nothing wrong with your query and the market is just not there for your book. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s weighed on me a lot, letting this thing fall by the wayside, but I swallowed my guilt and here I am for another installment. I hope this the first of many of to come.
Today we’re talking about J’s “thriller with fabulist elements,” clocking in at 82,000 words. Nothing wrong with the word count there. We’ll get to the genre in a second.
