Let’s put on our big kid pants and answer some hard questions today.
F asks: I'm a Nobody in the publishing world, or any professional world. I work as an editor at an editorial agency. I have a few bylines, as a writer, in a regional magazine. I have a private Instagram account with 764 followers and 79 Twitter/X followers. I don't have a meaningful platform. However, I have a book anthology idea (non-fiction, humor) that involves chapters written by comedians, humor writers, and comedy professionals that do have meaningful platforms. I'm also interested in developing this book with a co-'author,' or co-collaborator, who does have a meaningful platform. I would write one chapter in the anthology but it is largely written by others—who again, have platforms that would be of interest to an agent or publisher. How much does being a Nobody matter in this case?
