My family thinks Iām nuts for keeping a reading spreadsheet and tracking stats. This was a joy and affirming to read! You may have inspired me to add a few columns š
I love this quote and keep it in mind when I'm feeling alone in my weirdness / when I'm deciding what to do in my business (helping adults find joy in life) ā
āWe are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.ā ā Dr. Seuss
I love this! I keep track of how many books I read but I want to have this data as well. And Iām resolved to make 100 this year - only 81 books in 2023.
so fun to see!! i just did all my stats for 2023 yesterday, and it was SO FUN! š i'm excited for this year bc i started my reading journal mid-year or so last year, and i'm looking forward to having more accurate stats this year š glad to see you were able to read so much last year! š
Well, I can see you are certainly a gal who likes to keep track of things. I couldn't do a pie chart to save my life, but I can pull out a paper file of my New Year's Resolutions (which I call "Hopes and Plans for the Year" going back so far it is dizzying. I guess that's geeky enough for us to share similar quirkiness.
That's a whole lot of books!š I'm planning to read more books this year from different indie authors that are already on my tbr to step up my reading game for myselfšŖ
I love this! My goal was 65. And I met it--although admittedly, there were a couple of short books (i.e novellas) in there. But I figure they provided a counter balance to "My Name is Barbra" which was 986 pages. Goodreads sent me a notice that said I was in the top 25%--and you'd think I'd won an Oscar....
I loved it too--and was surprised by how multi-talented she is. I was never a Barbra fan--or NOT a fan--I read it because I gravitate to stories of resilience--and boy, hers sure is. Or perhaps as Tina Turner said about herself "Invincible Optimism." As for books....honestly--65 isn't that much when you "cheat." (i.e use Audible to listen to memoirs and biographies while out on your daily walk--it's that 'double duty" thing I've come to love!)
Hmmmm I should start counting ALL my books. I tend to just keep track of ones that I think ācount,ā but I read a ton of middle grade and YA stuff with my kids (we homeschool). Itād be interesting to see how it all actually adds up!
Have you seen book journals, specifically the ones with tiny book cover stickers? Just like with bullet journaling and hobonichis, I WANT to do them but feels like so much time spent that I'd rather be doing other things (like writing my book š) so I've become a watcher of them. Just went and made myself a few bar graphs with my own data after reading this post. So fun to get the visual -- thanks for sharing yours!
Hang on, I see two Sweet Valley books on there! Can you share how they got added to your list?
Also thanks for recommending The Best of Everything many newsletters ago, that was one of my favorites I read this year!
They are graphic novels and my client illustrated them! First two in a many book series!
I'm so glad you liked The Best of Everything!
Oh that's fantastic, I didn't know they were getting the graphic novel treatment! Will be tracking them down. š
Your graphs and pie charts inspire me! I read 65 books, and agree that graphic memoirs certainly count! The deepening of that literature is inspiring.

65 books are a lot of books to read in a year. ~ I loved My Name is Barbra. Now we know why it's "Barbra." šš

Amazing!!! I've been meaning to read that David Mitchell book. He's so freaking hilarious!!

Count it all! Tag it if you want to see how that area stacks up by itself, but count it all!!
LOVE!, from a fellow data nerd. š

Ugh I love that kind of thing! But I too have no time to do it!

"24 books from my shelves in '24!" Definitely a goal I need to set!
