Speed boosts https://slithergame.org are a double-edged sword. They can give you a temporary advantage in positioning and escaping, but they also make you more vulnerable due to the length reduction.
Such a great description of the revising process. I'm about to start on draft #5 after I receive the next round of edits from my new agent. But each draft makes the book better, so I persist.
Also: I added I'M MOSTLY HERE TO ENJOY MYSELF to my wishlist, and when I turned on NPR *30 minutes later,* Glynnis was being interviewed about the book! A sign from the universe that I must buy it.
Thanks for this. I'm rounding the corner to submit my own draft #1 and I feel unprepared for what comes next, so this insight helps. (It also helps to hear others admit this is hard!). Congrats on getting those edits submitted!
Kate, Thanks so much for your posting. I am writing a non-fiction book and seeing someone else struggling with the exact issues I am is so very helpful and encouraging.

Good luck with your book Ms. McKean. I have a question. Since you're an agent, do you have to get an agent? : ) I'm actually semi-serious
Struggling editing my book but helpful to know we all are!
