So helpful to see things broken into specifics like that royalty info. Another advantage of keeping a "day job" -- less pressure on you to write for the market. You can follow your creative and sometimes risky instincts without worrying that you will go hungry if that next book doesn't sell. (OTOH, day job means you may often be too exhausted to do your own writing and it's easier just to have a glass of wine and watch TV. )
I’m a big fan of straight talk. I think my dream is to subsidize my income enough that I can work part-time. It’s also nice to have an unrelated career to fall back on if I need a break from writing after a while. Thanks for posting!
