So thrilled to see this news of your conversion to novellas. I think at this point they are my favorite. I pick one up, I sail through, my life is changed even though my attention span has been destroyed by the internet, I bounce onward. A lot of the books that have meant the most to me have been novellas, particularly in F&SF and horror, but also in classic lit -- Heart of Darkness, Ethan Fromme, a dozen others. Gatsby is barely more than a novella, really -- I think 55k words? I do feel when I pick up a shorter work, I'm getting the best there is: no extra words, just the important ones. As a double Sagittarius, I am absolutely certain publishing can back the novella and save civilization with ease, so why not try?
I had the same conversion last year and it was almost entirely because of P Djeli Clark (but some other Tor.com novellas too!). There's certainly a good number of horror novellas too - mostly from smaller presses.
