God, I needed this post. I am on holiday overload and beating myself up over writing and other-life stuff left undone. Your wisdom reminded me to get centered and balanced.

I'm with you: Don't let the door hit you in the ass, 2024.

I love how you keep it real, Kate. I published a novel this year, have two coming out next year, all the while holding down a full-time job. I’m so tired.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful, restful holiday.

Kate, thank you so much for your honest, supportive post. I guess I should be able to do it for myself, but I'll admit - I appreciate getting the encouragement, the permission, to acknowledge all I did do and give myself a break for all I haven't done. That is not easy for me at all. And it helps to know it's not just me.

Wishing you and your family a joyful, healthy holiday season!

Holiday shopping hint: Write down the name, gift, and store you know it can be found. Otherwise the mall will eat you alive : )

At an agent panel, (AWP 2024) an agent said she hated getting queries over the holidays. So I don't do that anymore. A great excuse to not feel guilty for missing your query quota. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for putting into words what a lot of us are feeling. Now I'm going to go write my 3 words and then relax the rest of the day. ;) Have a happy holiday!

No one nails it better than you, Kate. You are such a beacon in a world of so many (often excessive, unedited!) : ) words.

Thank you for the gift of what you do here, and how it comes from your heart.
